The "Meet and Greet 2024" event was organized by the newly formed committee of ECS Computer City, the largest computer market in the country located on Elephant Road, Dhaka (Multiplan Center). The event was held today, Monday, October 21, at the Marriott Convention Center, where all the traders, owners, and notable individuals from the IT and business sectors of Computer City were present. The newly formed committee of ECS Computer City was formally introduced at the event.
A 13-member steering committee has been formed, with Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies (BD), as the convenor, and Md. Nazrul Islam Hazar, Managing Director of Welkin Computer, as the member secretary. The other members of the committee are Senior Joint Convenor Md. Wahidul Hasan Dipu, Joint Convenors Md. Ahsanul Islam Naushad, Joint Member Secretary Md. Eheteshamul Haque, Finance Member Muhammad Monirul Islam, and members Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Md. Farooq Ahmed Bhuiya, Md. Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury Munna, Md. Mainuddin Majumder (Sohag), Muhammad Noman Shikder, Md. Tanzil Hossain, and Md. Raju Hasan.
In the event, the members of the newly formed committee shared their thoughts about the market. Convenor Mohammad Zahirul Islam, in his speech, called for unity among everyone for the betterment of the market.
In his speech, convenor Mohammad Zahirul Islam said that the market has a glorious history in expanding the country’s computer business. He believes that under the leadership of the newly formed committee, this market will not only be acclaimed in Bangladesh but also be recognized as an international-standard computer market. He added that he feels honored to be given the responsibility of leading the newly formed executive committee of ECS Computer City, one of the most important IT business markets in Bangladesh.
He also mentioned that, like other sectors, the technology sector is also facing challenges in the current context of a new Bangladesh. As part of this, there has been a significant leadership vacuum in the country’s largest computer market. Various disruptions have already been noticed in the market’s business activities. In this context, at the request of the esteemed traders of the market, we have formed a new executive committee. We are not only committed to working on the market’s infrastructural development but also to ensuring a conducive business environment by taking all necessary steps.
Member Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Hazar said that although there are many tech institutions in the country, there are very few markets that provide a good environment under one roof. In this regard, ECS Computer City is a name of success. He feels fortunate to have worked as the chairman of the founding committee of this glorious market.
He added that we need to continuously refine our technological skills and develop a strong business plan. The newly formed executive committee of ECS Computer City aims to create an environment in the country’s largest tech market that will allow everyone to face new challenges and move forward with the changing times.
Additionally, a 10-member advisory committee has been formed. The advisory committee members are Md. Saeed-ul-Munir, Rafiqul Anwar, Md. Nazrul Islam Milon, Gautam Saha, Sarwar Mahmud Khan, Nazmul Haque Shamim, Mosharaf Hossain Sumon, Mohammad Nazrul Islam Helali, Mostafizur Rahman Tuhin, and Ahmed Hasan Jewel. The central coordinator is Abu Tuhin Chowdhury.
At the event, the fact-finding report of ECS Computer City (Multiplan Center) and the future action plan were presented. The fact-finding report highlighted the market's irregularities and corruption over the past years.
