Elon Musk’s social media platform X was largely back online for most users after a significant outage impacted tens of thousands in the United States on Saturday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com. Following the restoration, Musk announced he is ‘back to spending 24/7’ at his companies.

The disruption peaked around 8:51 a.m. ET, with Downdetector.com registering over 25,800 user reports of issues with X. The platform, which collates status reports from various sources including users, indicated that the number of reported outages had dropped below 650 by 12:09 p.m. ET.

In a post on X, Musk stated, ‘Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms. I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.’

The outage was not confined to the U.S., with Downdetector data showing thousands of users in countries including Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and Britain also experiencing difficulties accessing the platform at its height.

Musk’s renewed declaration of intensive focus on his business empire follows his announcement on Tuesday that he would substantially cut his political spending. This move signals a shift in attention back to his companies amid growing investor concerns. Last year, Musk reportedly spent nearly $300 million backing President Donald Trump’s campaign and other Republicans.

He had also spearheaded a ‘Department of Government Efficiency,’ which aimed to eliminate tens of thousands of jobs and cancel billions in contracts and grants. However, his political stances have reportedly triggered protests against Tesla in the U.S. and Europe, contributing to a slump in sales, with the automaker reporting its first drop in annual deliveries last year.

Concerns among some investors regarding the amount of time Musk dedicated to Tesla have been noted. In an apparent bid to ease these worries, Musk told investors last month that he would reduce his time with the ‘DOGE’ (Department of Government Efficiency) initiative to one or two days a week starting in May.
